No. GPS tracking is a commodity — you can buy a basic tracker for $30. Sawa is a fleet intelligence platform that turns raw vehicle data into cost-saving decisions. Tracking is one input. What Sawa delivers on top of that is fuel loss attribution, predictive maintenance scheduling, driver behavior scoring, digital audit trails, and an ecosystem of services — fuel financing, usage-based insurance, driver credentialing — that no hardware tracker can provide. The platform exists to reduce your operating costs and improve the profitability of your fleet, not just tell you where your vehicles are.
We are currently fully operational in Rwanda, where we serve enterprise clients including Rwanda National Police, Rwanda Defence Force, Rwanda Investigation Bureau, Move Plus, TABS Logistics, Volkswagen Rwanda, Zamura Feeds, and Safe Travel Kigali. We are actively building our expansion framework for Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, with those markets targeted for 2029. West Africa — beginning with Ghana and the ECOWAS region — is Phase 3 of our geographic roadmap from 2031.
Yes — and this is one of the most important things that differentiates Sawa from platforms built for Western markets. Our hardware is designed with multi-network SIM fallback, meaning devices automatically switch between available carriers to maintain connectivity. When connectivity is unavailable entirely — in rural dead zones or during border crossings — the device buffers data locally and syncs as soon as a signal is restored. No data is lost. Your vehicle's history remains complete regardless of network conditions.
Yes. Version 1 of the Sawa platform includes EV battery health monitoring alongside conventional vehicle diagnostics. As EV adoption grows across Africa — driven by ride-hailing platforms, government mandates, and fleet financing schemes — Sawa becomes more valuable, not less. Electric vehicles generate significantly more data than combustion vehicles: battery state of charge, degradation curves, charging event logs, range predictions. All of this requires intelligent processing to be useful. Sawa is built to handle that data layer as EV fleets scale.
Each vehicle requires a hardware device installation — a process that takes approximately 2 hours per vehicle and is handled end-to-end by our local installation team. The hardware cost (approximately $90 per device) is covered under your chosen pricing model (subscription, leasing, or licensing). After hardware installation, your fleet is configured in the Sawa platform, your users are trained, and your dashboard is live. Most clients are fully operational within 5–10 business days of signing, depending on fleet size. We also provide dedicated customer success support for the first 90 days.
Yes. Sawa offers a full API integration layer — REST API with webhook support — compatible with ERPs, dispatch platforms, insurance portals, fuel card providers, and custom internal systems. If your organization already has a system of record for fleet management, HR, or finance, we can connect Sawa data into it.
